Held in Regard is an independent editorial practice about watches as vessels for memory, identity, relationships, taste, desire, and change. These standards explain how the work is reported, edited, disclosed, and corrected. They apply to essays, interviews, profiles, reviews, photography, newsletters, social posts, and other editorial work published by Held in Regard.

Editorial independence

Held in Regard makes its own editorial decisions. Access, relationships, products, loans, invitations, gifts, or commercial conversations do not guarantee coverage, favorable treatment, or publication.

Sponsored, paid, or partner-supported work is clearly labeled and kept distinct from independent editorial coverage. A sponsor or commercial partner may identify factual or safety concerns when directly involved as a source, but does not control the headline, conclusion, interpretation, or final copy.

Reporting and verification

Held in Regard prioritizes firsthand experience, original interviews, primary documents, and directly observed detail. Consequential facts are verified before publication when reasonably possible. When a date, provenance, memory, or other detail cannot be confirmed, the uncertainty is attributed and preserved rather than filled with assumption.

Reviews disclose the nature of access, whether a watch is owned, borrowed, loaned, gifted, or otherwise provided; the approximate duration and conditions of use; and any limits that materially affect the assessment. Held in Regard does not imply ownership, access, or experience that did not occur.

Interviews and participant review

Participation in interviews is voluntary. Recording, transcription, photography, and publication permissions are obtained in advance when required. Participants may decline a question, pause the conversation, or ask to go off the record before responding.

Direct quotations are checked against the available recording or contemporaneous notes. Quotations may be lightly trimmed for clarity or length without changing their meaning. Composite or invented quotations are not used.

For reported profiles, participants are normally offered one near-final accuracy and context review covering names, dates, relationships, chronology, quotations, watch details, privacy, safety, image rights, and captions. Held in Regard uses AI-assisted tools for transcription, organization, draft development, and editorial refinement. AI output is never treated as a source or published without human review.

All interviews, reporting, photography, factual verification, interpretation, and final editorial decisions are human-led.

Unpublished interviews and participant materials are processed only within the permissions granted by the participant. Held in Regard does not authorize those materials for AI training. AI-generated or materially altered images, audio, voices, or likenesses are clearly labeled. They are never presented as documentary photography, documentary audio, or evidence of an event that did not occur.

Photography and media

Photography is original to Held in Regard or used with permission from the rights holder.

Routine editorial adjustments such as cropping, exposure, contrast, color balance, and sharpening may be used to represent the photographed subject faithfully.

Generative alteration that adds, removes, replaces, or materially reconstructs documentary details is not presented as an unaltered record. Guest-supplied photographs and other materials are credited or limited according to the permission granted. Images of minors require appropriate parent or legal-guardian permission, and family privacy is protected.

Loans, gifts, access, and commercial relationships

Any relationship that could reasonably affect how a reader evaluates an endorsement, recommendation, or review is disclosed clearly in or near the relevant work. This includes payment, free or discounted products, watch loans, travel, hospitality, affiliate commissions, gifts, privileged access, employment, family relationships, or other material benefits.

Privacy and minimizing harm

Held in Regard publishes only the personal detail needed to tell the story responsibly. Subjects may choose an approved public name and may raise privacy or safety concerns during the reporting and review process.

Emotion is not forced, and uncertainty is not rewritten as certainty. Extra care is taken with grief, family history, health, minors, locations, and other sensitive information. The dignity and safety of the people in the work take precedence over novelty, drama, or engagement.

Corrections, clarifications, and updates

Held in Regard takes responsibility for published work. Readers and participants may report a possible error or context concern by emailing info@heldinregard.com and including the relevant page or post.

Minor typographical or formatting errors may be corrected without a note. Substantive factual corrections are made promptly and identified in the affected work. Clarifications and material updates are distinguished from corrections when appropriate. Good-faith privacy or safety concerns raised after publication are reviewed carefully, though publication does not create an automatic right of removal.

Community and audience practices

Held in Regard does not buy followers, purchase engagement, fabricate comments or testimonials, use undisclosed promotional arrangements, or disguise advertising as independent editorial work.

Community participation is intended to contribute first. Posts in forums, groups, and owner communities should stand on their own, follow local rules, and begin with a genuine question, observation, or dilemma rather than treating the community purely as a distribution channel.

Ownership and reuse

Original Held in Regard writing and photography remain the property of Held in Regard Media LLC unless otherwise stated. Guest-supplied materials are used only within the rights and limits granted by their owners. Paid advertising, merchandise, unrelated licensing, synthetic likeness, or materially different reuse requires separate permission when applicable.

Accountability

These standards are commitments, not claims of perfection. Held in Regard will explain consequential editorial choices, respond to good-faith questions, correct mistakes, and update these standards as the practice evolves.
